The Women Formerly Known as the Pastor's Wife

My pleasure, Lyn. I believe a community of FKA-ers is building. I anticipate my daughters creating a Formerly Known As A Pastor's Kind essay sometime in the future.

Oops! That should read "kid" not "kind" in above comment.

You know John, it would be really good to hear what some of the kids have to say.

I agree. Time will tell.

It's not that I don't want to talk about my childhood as a pk, it's just that I felt it was really good. I don't feel like I was lacking anything, except a few designer outfits (wink, wink). I know as an adult, the hurts and pains of being a pastor's family, but for me, I didn't feel like I was missing out.
I know the same is not true for all pks, and as a pfkapk, I know there was more to the story. But, I loved my childhood and I wouldn't have changed it.
When I get some time (I've got the three kids consuming my every waking minute, too), I want to write more. Maybe a pfkapk letter is still to come.

I am a pastors daughter. Fully grown and attending a church that is not my parents. I assumed I knew the burdens of pastors and their wives, and so I did my best to be a good parishoner.
But it was while reading the "FKAPW" post that I was stung with conviction. In trying so hard to not be the burden, I failed to be as good a friend to them as I could have.

I've already posted this comment on lyns blog, but I wanted to thank you as well, for linking me to this post. It's rooted out some things in my heart that I didn't expect to find. And now it challenges me to change. Thank you.

flyawaynet,
Amazing, isn't it, how blogs can be not only informational and challenging, but healing as well? Thanks for stopping by and commenting. God bless!
