Entering Interim Ministry with "the Covenant"

Today I was installed as the interim pastor of Fellowship Evangelical Covenant Church, Hudsonville, MI.

This assignment is interim (perhaps 8 to 10 months) and part time (20 hours per week).

The Evangelical Covenant Church is a highly active church-planting denomination and I have become acquainted with numerous E.C.C. pastors and denominational leaders. I admire the support that the E.C.C. gives to their church-planting teams and their pastoral teams.

My ministry to young leaders in Ukraine is still operational (I leave for Ukraine on September 15 and return September 28) and affirmed by Fellowship Church and the regional E.C.C. leaders.

I invite you to pray for Julie and me as we launch into this venture of ministry. I will write about the ministry at Fellowship Church from time to time on this blog.

Great news, John. This is a great opportunity for you and I'm glad we are both connected to the Covenant Church! Welcome to the family.

Congrats on the job, John

And your profile picture looks kinda familiar. Are you trying to copy me and my "crop above the nose" montage?

Hope you are well. Life in Oregon is going incredible. Marriage is a wonderful thing!

Scot,
Thanks for the affirmation, and it is good to be in the Covenant family.

Ben,
Thanks, and, yes, I have to admit, you were my blog picture mentor. Do you like it? The reason marriage is wonderful is because you have a wonderful wife and Andi has a great young husband.

John,
Wow! You're right in our neighborhood (almost). Actually in a church closer to where we live, than the Covenant church we're serving in. Makes me wish we could be part of that with you. Though I don't believe that church existed when we first attended our church a year ago.

But it's great news! And a great denomination to be a part of. Very affirming and open in good ways, I believe. We're relatively new in it ourselves, and so we're discovering, and we're thankful to see God's good work very evident, and the Spirit of God clearly seen in these people. You'll fit in perfectly. And it'll be good.

Ted,
Please come and visit when you can. The church has been around since 1989. The ECC is a good group to be associated with.

Ben,
Didn't mean to step on your toe by referring to you as young. I meant young in a relative sense...as in compared to me young.

John,

I was confusing the church to which you were going, with a new plant in Byron Center. Hudsonville is further for us. But yes, we'll have to get out there sometime!

Ted,
Yes, there is a new ECC plant on M-6 and Byron Center. But FECC is on 44th St.north (right off 196) just beyond the 3rd stoplight on the right.
